A group of researchers in the United States and Japan have found that the people, who have facial flushing after drinking alcohol, have much higher risk of esophageal cancer due to an inherited deficiency in the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2). The authors advise these ALDH2-deficient people to limit their alcohol consumption. The finding has recently been published in the journal of PLoS Medicine. 美国和日本研究者共同发现饮酒后脸红的人群，因体内先天性缺乏一种“乙醛脱氢酶”，罹患食道癌的风险很高。建议少饮酒。
